Confused by all the Fring/iPhone hype

As Stuart Henshall said “What we have is a Fring beta on an unsupported platform that works and still needs work.” What is the big deal, really? Why is this getting so much attention?

Fring may be able to afford burning their bridges with Apple, but most other companies aren’t going to take that gamble. They will release their native iPhone VoIP apps within the terms Apple dictates for partners and official iPhone developers – expecting them to do otherwise is unreasonable.
