Etel: what I like about you

Alec Sunders has a nice post with some good things to like about the Emerging Telephony Conference next week in San Francisco.

I couldn’t agree more. I’m not suggesting that people should stop attending VON or TMC’s Internet Telephony conferences. In fact, I see these as all fantastically complementary. It’s perfect that Etel is so difrferent from VON. One thing I love about Etel is that if a vendor stood in front of a crowd with the typical ‘sales pitch’ presentation, droning on about how their session border controller is somehow better than their competitor’s, chaos would ensue. :)

If you want to see some unique visions for the future of telephony, Etel is the place to be. Will these visionaries be right? We won’t know for a while, but what I can say with certainty is that the ideas will be thought provoking. I hope Etel doesn’t have to turn into another VON to survive. Let’s keep it going, by showing up!
