So I really like the ability to use a browser and access my Blog subscriptions on any machine from anywhere rather than some dedicated “application” on one machine. I’ve tried using Bloglines before several times on and off and so far have found it to be too slow, and lacking features, so I gave up and wrote some of my own little CGI hacks to grab feeds and display them in a simple list. Now I’m trying Bloglines again.
Somebody tell me how to use Bloglines. I want it to display a list of titles-only of all blogs I’m subscribed in a handy list, grouped by the blog, e.g.:
Blog One
– post N
– post N-1
– post N-2
– etc. of “new posts” (or matching posts)
Blog Two
– post N
– post N-1
– post N-2
– etc. of “new posts” (or matching posts)
Etc…
Where “post N” etc. above are the titles of the post and a link to it.
Can I get such a display with Bloglines?
Also, it’s still a slow pig for me. What do others do in this regard (given that I don’t sit in front of the same machine all the time).
I’m trying to do the same, it would be very useful, but I think it’s not possible, at the moment I’m using Thunderbid to read rss feeds
You can modify the "display preferences" for your subscriptions to only view titles. To change this setting, while you are reading a subscription, click on the "edit subscription" link top right.
If you want to set all your subscriptions by default to display titles/headlines only, you can do so by clicking the "Options" link on the left My Feeds pane.
I hope this has been helpful.
