To show that he is really in charge, President Bush took a stern position on leaks and warned his staff and visiting senators to quit leaking information to the press, or else. News of the order leaked almost immediately, according to this Philadelphia Inquirer story:
Bush told his senior aides Tuesday that he “didn’t want to see any stories” quoting unnamed administration officials in the media anymore, and that if he did, there would be consequences, said a senior administration official who asked that his name not be used.
