Probably not too interesting to anyone else, but one reason I haven’t posted here lately is because I’ve been working on a Gaim plug-in implementing the Conference Manager protocol. Conference Manager is a video chat and IM system that is currently a research project at EarthLink. Anyway, the plug-in allows one to use Gaim to communicate with the EarthLink Conference Manager system.
I don’t know if you already figured it out or not, but you can in fact use video with the Gaim Confmgr plug-in. All you have to do is run ‘vic’ stand-alone with the following arguments:
vic 209.179.5.136/15920
If you don’t have vic, you can grab Linux binaries here:
http://www.research.earthlink.net/software/mbone/linux_binaries.tar.gz
Or see the main UCL vic page here:
http://www-mice.cs.ucl.ac.uk/multimedia/software/vic/
It’s also possible that your Linux distribution has a version of vic.
