My sister-in-law’s PC finally died. As the resident extended family computer geek, I’m typically fixing somebody’s Microsoft Windows problems at least every few months, but I haven’t had to touch this particular (el-chepo eMachines) PC since initially setting it up at least two years ago. I’ll have a look at it today. I suspect that typical Windows ME entropy is the cause, and not hardware, but we’ll see. Maybe I can put Linux on the machine for her. I wonder if she would notice. At least I was able to convince my niece to get a Mac. I haven’t had to touch that machine — good thing, since it is 3000 miles away.
