Gigabit links for Californians by end this decade

According to an article from Motorola, Dewayne Hendricks has a plan, partially funded by the state of California, to hook up every person in the state with 1 gigabit broadband access by the end of this decade. Hendricks is founder of The Dandin Group, a Fremont, Calif.-based wireless Internet access provider, and a member of the FCC’s Technological Advisory Council. He calls the project “One Gigabit or Bust” and he seems to have a reputation of being somewhat of a renegade (I like that). Personally, I’m skeptical, but I think I’ll see what else I can find out about it.
