I'm not reading anything offensive into McAdam's comments. It's ironic that she sees all bloggers as "engineer types" given the reality, but oh well.

In terms of the delay in publishing my responses, I guess it's just the way things work.

I'm not optimistic that the true facts will ever be understood or internalized by FieceVoIP or their readers. Ooma is a lot better at spinning than we are.

David,

why do we have to wait so long for your answer to Andrew Frame's comparison of Ooma and PhoneGnome on FierceVoIP?

Your voice is missing and Deborah McAdam's comment today makes fun of the "engineer types" and also of you.

If Jaxtr's plan is to build the biggest customer base possible and then find a buyer, then the key question is what those subscribers are worth.

GrandCentral didn't make any revenue (prior to their buy-out) but managed to sign up lots of beta users. Those are high value users because they were willing to switch their phone number (that's a big barrier!) and re-direct their phone service through a new company. They made a real commitment - even reprinted biz cards.
(And it looks like some of them will have to reprint them...
http://www.momathome.com/2007/08/how_using_a_beta_web_application_can_bite)

These are exactly the people Google wants for future service trials in this area.

As you mention, Jaxtr doesn't give out numbers to the callee so there's no persistence on that end. If Jaxtr's users are mainly from India, China, etc. and just looking for the cheapest minutes, there won't be any loyalty to Jaxtr.

Raw subscriber numbers are impressive but any savvy buyer is going to want to know how sticky those users are.

Interestint thoughts and calculations. I would really love to get an answer on that from Jaxtr. But these kinds of answers are rare nowadays. It feels that they are partying like in 1999.
