iChat, another perspective

Matt Haughey over at A Whole Lotta Nothing talks about using iChat as a phone:

Heck, if everyone you knew had a powerbook, iSight, and a bluetooth headset, this would kick ass all over Voice Over IP systems.

Well, okay, if you say so, but if Apple decided to implement interoperable open-standard SIP in iChat in the first place, all your friends wouldn’t need a powerbook and iSight to communicate with you.
