Stewart Brand and Kevin Kelly have a site called Long Bets that encourages prognosticators to put money where their mouth is. Participants place bets on their predictions for the future, putting money at stake to be donated to charity. Among others, Dave Winer predicts that by 2007, weblogs will rank higher than The New York Times for top news stories, and Craig Mundie says by 2030 we will routinely fly in pilotless planes.
