An unlikely champion of privacy rights

Who would have guessed that SBC and the EFF would be on the same page about anything, but according to C|net, Pacific Bell Internet Services is challenging the massive number of subpoenas served against it by the RIAA. The article says the lawsuit charges that the DMCA itself may violate the U.S. Constitution and that SBC/Pacific Bell took the action against the RIAA to protect the privacy of its customers. The enemy of my enemy and all that I guess, but how Byzantine.
